How to use it?
I have been using one of these for commuting to work for 19 months, cvering a distance of more than 3000 kms. I use it almost every day. During winter, spring, fall and summer. Even when there has been snow and ice on the road (look at my videos in youtube, search for transportatil). It is a very reliable simple machine. I go on it from my home to my GO bus station, that is 3.5 kms away, It takes me 13 minutes, then I get on my bus and carry my Airwheel with me, under my seat. It’s design allow you to carry it as a portfolio, or I can make it fit in my backpack. When I get off my bus, I get on my Airwheel again and cover another 1.5km to my work. At work I conveniently recharge it under my desk. No maintenance, just once in a while I put some air into the wheel. It is very sturdy, so you can rest assure it will last.
It looks dificult to ride, it is not!
It took me 5 hours to learn it, I’m over 40 years-old and believe me, my sense of balance is not at the top, I don’t even know how to skate!. You could say, I have two left legs. However, in five hours I learned and was ready to use it on the street. My wife laughed when I started practicing, but when she saw me riding…There are a lot of videos in the internet that teaches you how to ride. The unit comes with a training belt and training wheels, so you can slowly and safely learn it.
How does it feel? – Awesome.
But wait!, you would say, that I say that because I want to sale. No. I mean it. It feels like if you were hovering on the street. Going effortless and smoothly. I don’t know how to skate, but I think the feeling should be similar. You feel free and connected with your environment. It catches the attention always generating positive reactions on people when they see you in this innovative transportation.
How safe it is?
As I said, I have been using it for more than a year (since April 2015). I’m in one piece. It’s wheel is good enough to take most of the bumps on the road, and your feet are close to the road, if you stumble, you can just continue running, as the unit is fast, but not that fast that you cannot control it. As with any transportation, you have to exercise caution. This device is no exception. You have to cross streets with care, making sure you make eye contact with drivers. Obey traffic signals. If you go on the road, stop in stop signs and follow the same rules as if you were driving. If you go on the sidewalk, be nice to other people. Pass pedestrians slowly and better you let them know you are coming through. If the terrain is irregular, slow down. Be focus on the road and avoid distractions. I feel safer when I go on the sidewalk as I don’t have to share the road with drivers.

The audio in this video was recorded with in-ear binaural microphones. If you wear headphones, your mind won’t be blown, but it will go, “woah.”
I’m also the producer for the Winding Road YouTube Channel:

Here on TheTopher, I’m known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it’s about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly test vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven’t made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole “woah” factor. It’s there, trust me. Try it, you’ll see! Or don’t. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I’m okay with whatever you do or don’t do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. Why are you still reading this, you should be watching the video. With headphones! Hah, had to sneak that in there one more time. Later!
